Preadolescents and adolescents are at the peak of developing biologically, cognitively, and socially. Such changes can be hard to navigate for teen and their parents. Through individual therapy, adolescents self explore and identify their own values, better manage their emotions, and increase their self-esteem, autonomy, and sense of responsibility. It creates a safe space for children/teens to feel welcome, heard, and seen, and to learn strategies to cope with challenging situations and emotions.
- Parents play a crucial role – Within the legal limits of confidentiality, parent sessions will include, general progress in therapy, sharing information about the teen’s development, difficulties, strength, and changes at home to create an empathetic and nurturing relationship among family members.
