Adoption is a journey that present unique challenges as children adjust to new beginnings and understand their story. At Strong Family Roots, we recognize that children experience the world differently and need support during significant life changes, especially after adoption. If you’re seeing emotional or behavioral challenges, difficulty with transitions, and are seeking guidance on age-appropriate adoption conversations and maintaining connections, please know we are here to offer expert support for your child and family.
Understanding Your Child Through the Language of Play
Children naturally express themselves through play. Our child-centered therapy uses play to create a safe space where your child can explore feelings, share experiences, and learn healthy coping skills in their own language. Play therapy helps lower defenses, allowing for deeper emotional processing and growth.
Your Crucial Role: Partnering in Your Child’s Growth
We believe that parents are integral to their child’s therapeutic journey and your involved is essential. Your sessions will provide a deeper understanding of your child’s development, their unique strengths, family dynamics and action steps to address any challenges your child may be facing. This collaborative approach allows us to better support your child and strengthen your family unit. We will also work together to explore effective communication strategies, including how to have age-appropriate conversations about adoption with your child.
Our Post-Adoption Therapy Services Include:
- Individual Child Sessions (45 minutes): Tailored play therapy sessions designed to meet your child’s specific emotional and developmental needs.
- Parent Sessions (45 minutes): Dedicated time for parents to gain insights, discuss progress, learn new strategies, and collaborate on their child’s therapeutic goals.
